This photo is clearly from the early 1930s, and the lady therein is French. But her presentation and the lusciousness of her corpus is rather anachronistic, especially given the un-30s-like design of the dress she is wearing.
What a cutie.

Oh Mah God!
Is this for real? Could it be that in the 40s there was some accepted notion of integration? Perhaps there was an enlightened attitude among pin-up artists? Would be nice to think so.

Yummy Anachronistic Peek-A-Boo
This photo appears to have been taken in the late 50s (the note on the last post of it claims that this lady was a carnival worker -- the hoochie-coochie illustration in the background making the point), but the general presentation of the subject looks rather anachronistic because of the co-opting of the fashion establishment of vintage lingerie and dress styles in recent times.
She's very sexy, in a way that feels post-modern, and she is showing a lot more cleavage than was generally thought proper in the apparent times in which this photo was snapped. She is a tawdy lady, a carnie, a real hot number. I would love to be able to see a film of her act.
Many Thanks to Atompunk

Oh, Richard
"What am I wearing? Well, it's a weird little number, with one of those old Fifties pattern tops accented at the waist with an Eagle scout belt. I'm drinking a milk shake that I made myself. I'm talking to you on this ancient rotary dial telephone sitting on a decidedly distressed and dusty bureau. What else can I say, Dear, I'm a long ways from 'Who's Afraid...'. You should see the look in my eyes. So dead, so bored. Hiding all my savage ambition. Have you been drinking again, you naughty boy?"

Nice One Of Jean
I believe this is a photo of Jean Harlow that has the most modern (in the "up-to-date" sense) feel to it of all those I have seen. First of all, she is in great shape at the taking of the photo. Secondly, the slip she is wearing is less of a 1930s style and more of a timeless design which would fit well in today's high-hemline-accommodating versions. I like the way it fits around the bust area and the modest exposure of cleavage. Also, the heels are not the typically clunky types usually seen in fashion photos from the era.
Very nice, somewhat anachronistic, pic, indeed.

Shoszbanter's Accumulator
Ptolemy Shoszbanter, developed this device in 1894 in Auschvald, Austria. It passively collects electricity from the air. No great amount of charge could be accumulated, but, fully charged, it was sufficient to run his iPod for a few hours.

Claudette For The Ages
Claudette Colbert, on the set for her movie "Cleopatra", looking startlingly post-modern.

Some Anachronistic Elements
It's obvious, mainly from the portion of an automobile in view, that this is a photograph taken towards the end of the 30s. And the lady certainly has the mid- to late-Thirties look to her. But the outfit that she is wearing is notable because, 1. it is a two-piece, with a bare midriff, 2. it is obviously NOT lingerie, 3. but it is hard to believe it is a swimsuit, since two-piece suits were still at least a decade away.
Something rather bizarre appears to be happening at hip level. It almost looks like the lady has inserted a gas pump spigot into her outfit bottom, at the same time distorting the lines of her lower torso. Or, that, perhaps her outfit bottom has slipped to reveal a slice of her upper rump.
Whatever the case, the attractive girl's facial expression is very sexy and come-hither. A very interesting picture, overall.

Another Anachronistic Moment
This mag was published some time in the 1950s, but the model and the clothes she is wearing have a distinctly 80s feel to them, seemingly predicting the Madonna/lingerie/bustier look. This was not a common look at the time by any means (and reserved for "bad girls"), but even the makeup/hairdo/jewelry, as well as the facial expression, seem to be out of time.
I like anachronistic imagery in old media, and every once in awhile, I will publish one.

Anachronistic Beauty
This photo, which is said to have been taken in 1902 by the source, shows a woman whose generally appearance (Victorian gown aside), is very modern. The hairstyle, facial features.make-up, and figure all contribute to an anachronistic sense.
