Mama Mia

I am thinking this is from "Some Like It Hot". I think the wardrobe folks cut the sheerness in the neckline absolutely as close to nipples as possible. Even without those darling spigots, the fullness of Marilyn's breasts is exhilarating.

2001:A Technology Love-Affair

A still from 2001:A Space Odyssey. The pilot area of the moon transport, showing instrument set-up. Kubrick understood that his audience would be fascinated with the nuts and bolts of space transportation 33 years into the future, so he would include sequences that would allow one to marvel at the futuristic designs. No toggle switches. No dials. No needle guages. Lots of computer displays. Convincingly rendered,

Great work, Stanley.

Unclear On The Concept

Eugene believed he had a sure-fire drive-in hit with his new independent feature. Unfortunately, he directed his cameraman to never aim the camera above knee-height.

Dreams Of The Mid-Century Pubescent

When I was a teenager in the 60s and the hormones were running high, I was always looking for a televised movie that had some sexually provocative imagery in it. I can tell you that I would have been extremely excited to see a movie that incorporated a scene like the one above in a scary movie. Even though, in this particular rendition, no overt nudity is to be seen. But the potential is definitely there.

But, one could not, in those days, expect to see the sort of stuff you could see in a "man's magazine" in the sort of movie they might acquire for local broadcast.

Pity.

Some Italian Cinema Cheesecake For Youse

This really nifty bit of cheesecake comes from the 1960 horror movie, "The Playgirls and The Vampire". This flick was in the vanguard of the Sex and Blood revolution in the Italian cinema industry of the late 50s/early 60s. There is actually a bit of nudity in this one, and some lovely Italian starlets. Check it out.
