When I was a teenager in the 60s and the hormones were running high, I was always looking for a televised movie that had some sexually provocative imagery in it. I can tell you that I would have been extremely excited to see a movie that incorporated a scene like the one above in a scary movie. Even though, in this particular rendition, no overt nudity is to be seen. But the potential is definitely there.
But, one could not, in those days, expect to see the sort of stuff you could see in a "man's magazine" in the sort of movie they might acquire for local broadcast.
Chubba-Fageela Foodstuffs didn't care who they offended in their quest to vanquish Dairy Queen forever from the fast food market. To everybody but DQ executives, this advertising card said "Cool Off, Kids!". The FDA could never figure out how Lycanthro Versatile Ads was able to achieve this feat, but they knew they wanted to somehow shut 'em down.
Yes, you are definitely aging yourself if you recognize what this is. Back in the days of broadcast TV, you hated to see this test pattern/notice screen appear on your set. It means you were missing part of your program while the boys at the station house frantically worked to resolve the problem.
I haven't posted any of those wonderful drive-in intermission ads in awhile so here's one for ya. This one has several major sequences, but the one to watch for is the second one, which has an awesome harpsichord component. It's one of my most favorite refreshment commercials.
